- Netgear WG511v1 on FC11 with WPA2-PSK
- Here is the sequence I used to get it to work with WPA2 PSK encryption.
1. add prism54 to the blacklist.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
2. download the firmware from http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/p54 at the
kernel >= 2.6.29
miniPCI/PCMCIA isl3886pci (download link) or extract the firmware using the fwextract tool from http://lekernel.net/prism54/misc.html from the .sys file from the netgear drivers and mv(rename) it to /lib/firmware/isl3886
3. plug in the card.
The p54pci module loads and uses the isl3886 fw and... well it works.
I tried renaming the files that come with the standard wg511v1 windows driver, WG511ICB.sys to isl3890 for the original usage and it worked without WPA2 and also tried renaming the file to isl3886 for the p54pci but the fw was rejected by the p54pci module, fyi.
